Finding Your Light

A new year has begun, and we are flooded with news of suffering and trials in the world. How do we step forward everyday amidst the chaos and find optimism? What can we do to make things better?
You have a light that you bring to the world that is uniquely yours. Too often we focus on what we lack, but we are wasting energy. Let's focus on the light that we do have and how we can share it. That's what we can do. Even if it's small efforts.
In my old age I have been surprised by creativity. I defined myself as "not having an artistic bone in my body." How many of you say that? But then I tried watercolor and found that I loved it and it made people smile. If I compare myself to other artists, I feel small and silly, but then I learned not to compare myself, because my light is my light and it adds a little something to this world.
Look for your light, and share it. Maybe you are a wonderful cook, or a friendly conversationalist or you can write your thoughts in a beautiful way, or you make people laugh or you can make things with your hands. Whatever that light is, no one else has it and we all need it. That's what we can do.

Thank you for brightening my day!
